For What It's Worth

Well, it's that time of year again where I go mad over my bracket. If history is any indication I should lose again to my wife (who knows as little about basketball as I do about most everything else) by the third round. At any rate, here's my final four for your amusement: Duke, Memphis, Illinois, Villanova. Memphis will beat Illinois 117-4 in the championship game.

Who cannot see that Samuel hewing Agag to pieces in Gilgal (1 Sam 15.33) typologically refers to the Tigers' victory over the "blue devil" in Indianapolis (known as Gilgal in Central Texas)? Elvis lives, my friends, he lives indeed and wields his velvet sickle with unmatched precision.

Barry, Barry...

Mempho as national champs? John "Shrimp" Calipari winning the big game when it counts? Let's be realistic. My pick: UConn. My bracket-buster, Xavier, is already out!

At least I can tell one thing from your post...it seems you are trekking through the Bible in a year. And if 1 Samuel is your current grazing spot, you're right on schedule!

Xavier?! Apparently, the papal indulgences were not enough to fend off Lord Morrison. Maybe next year (or decade). Although, Coach Cal is Catholic, too; I'll check with the Vatican to see what's in store.

With a day or two to make up, I hope my Bible-reading plan does more in me than I'm doing in it! Looking forward to seeing you in April, brother.

Amen on the prediction. I would have guessed similarly but without either the hermeneutical precision or the amazing spread- 117 to 4. :)

That's Aberdeen for you; can't get past the husk to find the kernel.
